results explain why men are better at single tasks

There are many interpretations and discussions as to why men and women are different in their behavior or psychology.

However, a research shows the differences are due to the structure of men’s and women’s brains, reported Medical News Today on Dec. 4.

A research team from the University of Pennsylvania studied 1,000 people aged 8-22. Their results showed that females had more connectivity between the right and left hemisphere of the brain, while men had more connectivity within each hemisphere.

The results explain why men tend to be better at performing single tasks such as cycling or navigating, and why women are better at multi-tasking and problem-solving.

“These studies show us a stark difference _ and complementarity _ in the architecture of the human brain that helps provide a potential neural basis as to why men excel at certain tasks, and women at others,” said Prof. Ragini Verma.

The research can be found in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
